Pet Boarding FAQs Answered by our Wichita Falls Veterinarians

If you must be away from home for a business trip, family issue, or just don’t like leaving your pet alone all day while you are at work, you're probably concerned about the well-being of your beloved pet. Here at Callfield Companion Animal Clinic, we provide pet boarding services so you can rest assured that your pet is in good hands while you are away. Our Wichita Falls veterinarians answer some frequently asked questions they receive about pet boarding:

1. What are the dangers of leaving my pet alone?

Even the most independent animals may feel abandoned if they're not used to being left alone for extended periods. This can cause a condition called separation anxiety, which is not only distressing but can also prompt destructive behavior. If a pet has a medical condition, a brief daily visit by a neighbor may not be sufficient to prevent or respond to a health crisis.

2. What are the advantages of pet boarding at a veterinary clinic?

Pet boarding at a veterinary clinic ensures that your beloved pet will have ready access to any medical care he may require. Our Wichita Falls veterinary staff can oversee your pet's stay, monitor his health and make sure any necessary treatments are administered on schedule.

3. How does your veterinary clinic make my pet feel at home?

Callfield Companion Animal Clinic provides a safe, comfortable "home away from home" for your pet. We maintain three exercise yards and plenty of opportunities to socialize with humans and other pets. In addition to high-quality food and care, we also allow you to supply our pet with a favorite toy or other comforting reminders of home.

4. Do you make special allowances for cat boarding needs?

We understand that cats require a quiet, serene environment if they're to be comfortable during their boarding stay. That's why we provide one-on-one socialization opportunities for your feline friend.

5. What preparations do I need to make before I can board my pet at your clinic?

Your pet must be up to date on his parasite prevention and vaccinations, including vaccinations against Bordetella and influenza. Be prepared to pay half of the reservation fee at the time you schedule the boarding stay. For cat boarding stays, make sure you bring your cat to us in a carrier. Find our full list of requirements here.

6. How far in advance should I schedule a pet boarding stay?

During busy seasons such as holidays, it's smart to reserve a boarding stay as far in advance as possible. Cancellations of holiday stays are only refundable if you cancel at least 5 days in advance.
